Hello everyone.

Unfortunately, we are temporarily shutting down the AnonPaste project due to numerous complaints about certain notes. A bunch of pedophiles, domain registrars, and internet providers have decided to play judge, making their idiotic rulings. Apparently, none of them care about freedom of speech.

In today’s reality, we cannot keep processing complaints every single day. Here’s what happened in short: Some pedophiles or employees of certain government agencies upload explicit videos to the site pomf2[dot]lain[dot]la, then share links with each other through private notes. Internet providers, registrars, and government agents took advantage of this, accusing AnonPaste of distributing so-called child pornography. The most ridiculous part? Those videos are still available on pomf2[dot]lain[dot]la, and none of these people seem to care.

We want to make it clear: AnonPaste was built on the principles of free speech and self-expression. We do not support such content being shared publicly. What people do in private is not our business, and we’re not here to police anyone’s actions—whether they are complete idiots or not. In most cases, this is just an illness.

We’re no different from WhatsApp or email—we provide a platform for secure communication. If someone takes a screenshot of their private chat and posts it online with illegal content, why should WhatsApp or email be held responsible?

AnonPaste has been used by many companies and public projects, including Whonix, Arch Linux, and others. We know that. Unfortunately, without making this situation public, we can’t continue providing our services. We understand that 7 million notes is a lot, and they are important to many people. But the fact remains—we are unwanted.

We are not shutting down permanently. For now, we recommend using a similar service from the Mozilla Community. We assume no one will have any complaints about Mozilla Foundation—after all, their reach isn’t that limited.

We would like to reiterate that the AnonPaste project does not host any illegal content on its servers. AnonPaste is a privacy-focused, encrypted note-sharing service with open-source code.
